A busy weekend of racing and training brought a mix of challenging conditions, personal bests, and practical takeaways for our athletes. From high heat on Friday evening to strong winds on Sunday, the team put their recent preparation to the test across running, cycling, and triathlon.
Friday: Worstead 5 Miler
Friday evening presented warm, humid conditions that made pacing difficult for every runner on the course.
- Mandie & Sarah: Both worked hard through tough conditions. Sarah was racing on heavy legs following a high-volume training week, adding a significant physical demand. Managing effort under cumulative fatigue is a core part of long-term development, and both stayed focused throughout.

- Keith: Executed a disciplined run despite a heavy workload in the days prior. He finished in 37:01—a performance that exceeded expectations for his current phase of training.

- Laura: Pushed the pace early on. While the strong initial effort proved costly in the final miles, she fought through to cross the line in 39:34, gathering useful data on pacing boundaries in high heat.

- Ruth C: Delivered a standout performance, earning a Personal Best time of 37:57 and securing 3rd place in her age group. Coming off a difficult event the previous weekend, this was a clear demonstration of recovery and execution.

Saturday: Virtual 100-Mile Endurance Ride
- James: Tackled a virtual 100-mile ride on the indoor trainer, setting out to complete the distance in under 8 hours. Long-duration indoor efforts require constant focus and mental discipline. James maintained composure from start to finish, crossing his target distance in 7 hours and 18 minutes—a direct result of consistent weekly work.

Sunday: Dorney Lake Standard Distance Triathlon
- Laura: Contended with strong, gusty winds at Dorney Lake across a 1500m swim, 40km bike (8 laps), and 10km run (2 laps). She put in a strong swim and a solid bike segment. However, high effort and fatigue on a multi-lap circuit led to a lap counting error, coming in after 7 laps rather than 8. Despite running a strong 10km off the bike, the miscount meant an official Did Not Finish (DNF).
Another weekend of strong race for the Efficient Endurance team.
