Victory Triathlon – June 28th 2026

A small, local race can feel like a massive milestone for one person, while a massive international event might just be a training day for another. We all start somewhere, and the real value is in the personal meaning we attach to the challenge.

This past weekend, six athletes from the Efficient Endurance community lined up at the Victory Triathlon in North Norfolk. It is a fantastic local race, with around 30% of the field taking on their very first triathlon. While our group had plenty of racing experience between them, the day held a unique personal meaning for every single one of them.

The Personal Milestones

Jo: Finding a New Level of Performance

For Jo, the day was about a very specific personal target: proving she could hold a consistent, strong pace on the run. She didn’t just meet her target; she thoroughly cleared it, averaging a superb pace to take a well-earned course personal best.

Kirsty: Watching the Hard Work Pay Off

Kirsty went into the weekend wanting to see the physical strength she has been building in training translate onto the race course. Everything clicked into place, and she crossed the line with a two-minute overall personal best—a direct result of her commitment over recent months.

Soph: Rediscovering the Fun of the Sport

Soph’s goal was simple: get back out there and enjoy racing again. Even when her brakes jammed during the bike, forcing her to become a roadside mechanic, she kept a smile on her face, sorted the issue, and reminded us all that overcoming unexpected hurdles is part of the fun.

Laura: Testing the Boundaries

Laura wanted to see how her body would respond to the challenge of racing hard week after week. She put together an incredibly strong day, securing the second-fastest bike split of the morning and taking first place in her age category.

Chris: A Full-Circle Moment

Chris returned to the exact race that introduced him to the sport nine years ago. While he might not be quite as fast as he was nearly a decade ago, the day was about enjoying the sport’s roots and appreciating how much experience and perspective he has gained since that first start line.

Abbie: The Joy of Direct Competition

Stepping out of her comfort zone of longer distances, Abbie took on a shorter, sharper race. She relished a brilliant, competitive battle on the course, digging deep on the run to take the fastest split of the day and the overall female win.

The Shared Journey

Whether you are aiming for a podium finish, trying to hit a personal pace target, or just sitting on the grass fixing a jammed brake, racing is about finding out what you are capable of on the day. It is about the shared energy of a community showing up to support one another.

Congratulations to everyone who raced, and a big thank you to North Norfolk District Council for organizing a brilliant local event.
