Reassuring ironman Coaching for first timers
The structure you need. The reassurance you want.
Your first Ironman, simplified.
Signing up for your first Ironman is a big deal, and it usually brings a lot of quiet worry. When you already have a busy job and a family, it is easy to wonder if your body can actually handle that kind of distance, or if you are spending hours away from home only to fail on race day.
Facing a huge week of swimming, cycling, and running without a clear plan just causes extra stress and makes you question if you are doing the right things to get you to the ultimate goal of the red carpet.
Our coaching takes that worry away. We write a clear, weekly plan that fits around your job and we stay in regular touch, so you always know you are doing exactly what it takes to get across the finish line.
The Risks of Making up your training
Many triathletes preparing for their first Ironman fall into the trap of just training hard every day. Without a coach to guide you through this amount of work, you often face:
Complete Overwhelm: Waking up on a Saturday morning unsure how to logistically fit a 5-hour bike ride and a run around family time, or constantly trying to catch up on missed sessions during the week.
Failing on Race Day: Spending months training only to hit the wall early on the marathon, because your long weekend sessions didn’t properly simulate the specific pacing and nutrition needed for the final hours of the race.
Injury from Panic Training: Pushing through joint pain or deep exhaustion because you feel you have to hit a certain mileage to be ready, leading to injuries that ruin your consistency just weeks before the event.
Constant Second-Guessing: Wondering if a single missed swim or bike session means you won’t finish, and dealing with the growing fear of the distance without anyone experienced to tell you if you are actually on track.

“Chris helped me no end up to Ironman Copenhagen. I had a back injury early in training which was managed really well.
My cycling performance in particular has improved and I’m really enjoying the sessions.
I have already booked my next Ironman with a plan in place to go even faster.”
STATS: Completed his first Ironman at Copenhagen in 13:31:29
How we prepare for your race - together
Efficient Endurance is about working together to handle the massive commitment of your first Ironman. We combine proven long-distance training methods with your knowledge of your own schedule, career, and family life. By checking in constantly and making decisions as a team, we take the guesswork out of the huge training volume, so you can stand on the start line feeling healthy, calm, and completely certain you can finish.
How We Work Together
Mapping the Unknown: We break the months ahead into manageable blocks, moving safely from your current fitness up to the long weekend sessions needed for the distance. We plan this layout together so it stays realistic around your job and family.
Building Your Weekly Plan: Your sessions are set up in TrainingPeaks based on your actual availability. We establish your individual pacing zones so you don’t overtrain, adjusting the workouts based on how your body handles the new mileage.
Staying in Touch: We manage the training side-by-side through regular WhatsApp messages and a weekly review. If work gets busy or you feel exhausted, we change the schedule together so you never have to guess how to modify a long ride or run.
Building Your Confidence: We look at your data and feedback together to track your endurance. This continuous review helps you understand your pacing and nutrition, removes the anxiety about the distance, and proves you are ready for race day.

TAKING THE FEAR OUT OF THE DISTANCE
The goal of coaching is to remove the constant anxiety that shadows a first Ironman build-up. Together, we address the exact worries that keep you awake—whether that is panicking about the mass open water swim, fearing a late-race energy crash on the marathon, or constantly second-guessing if your body can actually survive the distance.
When the plan we build is clear and we are talking regularly, the guesswork disappears. Facing these worries together ensures you step onto the start line feeling calm, in control, and completely ready to finish.
If you would like to discuss your Ironman and see if my coaching style is the right fit for your goals, the next step is a brief introductory call.
